Water polo is swimming, basketball, and wrestling stitched into one game, and it builds swimmers who are strong, confident, and genuinely excited to get in the water.
Colorado Water Polo has been developing athletes in the Denver metro since 2003. We are a non-profit run by coaches and parents, and we start beginners every single season. Your athlete needs no experience and no club background, and all they have to bring is a suit.

Every Pirate is placed by age and readiness, then coached to move up. Here's how the crew is organized.
Introductory
Swabbies
Ages 7–10
This is where every Pirate starts. We build water confidence and treading, and we introduce the ball through games rather than drills.

This is where the skills turn into a game. Players learn to move the ball, read the pool, and compete in their first tournaments.

Ages 13–15
Positions start to matter here. We teach the set, driver, and goalkeeper roles in depth, and the group competes against clubs across the region.

The Grier
Every year since 2011, Colorado's water polo community has filled the pool in Grier's name.
The tournament is named for our founder, Grier Laughlin, and we have hosted it every year since 2011. It runs five divisions across a full weekend, and it has the best atmosphere in the Mountain Zone.
